See Magazine
A publication intended for creatives. It is themed around people in the creative industry, from musicians to designers, who have moved abroad from their homes to find work. Collaboratively, myself and Tim Woolliscroft contacted creatives from around the world to gather first-hand content for this magazine. We wanted to tell the person's stories whilst illustrating them with the person's own photographs in order to give a real personal insight. Hence the name, A Creative Insight.
A craft theme also run through the publication, this came from the stamped logo on the front cover. We have included hand-written quotes from parts of the articles alongside woodblock prints to create the typography for each destination.
See is printed onto 120gsm uncoated stock, however, we wanted to inject some pace and colour in the publication. In order to do this we chose coloured paper stocks relavant to the destinations. e.g. sections of Brlin are printed onto G.F Smith Bier paper. We also used Colorplan 135gsm for other sections of the magazine.
Alongside the coloured stocks we have also printed colour onto the 120gsm uncoated stock. This is to continue the pace of the publication but ensuring not to overcrowd it with different stocks.
See is around B5 size, this is a similar format to magazines such as Offscreen and Makeshift. We chose this format to keep the magazine mall and more personal.
